Very Thailand-like, Chad, when the footpaths cannot be walked on due to the vendors taking up all the space.

I think they be Jackaranda trees inside the fence, too...lovely things when in flower.
gutteridge: The people are very laid back to use the modern terminology Ray.

It is good there is not much traffic and that you can walk the streets. Did you buy anything?
gutteridge: I bought nowt Astrid.
I love the Mexican markets, but have never been great at the bartering thing - I like how you've depicted them here.
gutteridge: I hate bantering Elizabeth but will do it if pushed. The trouble is that I never know the actual value that we should be heading for for a smooth resolution of the transaction.
Markets for bartering are very much my thing, Chad. The art of the deal!!! smile
gutteridge: You will have to teach me this skill one day Ginnie.

Everyone trying to eek out a living. I like the trickle; how much would they accept for that. I wonder?
gutteridge: Why don't you pop over and ask Alan?
Everyone trying to make a living as best they can
gutteridge: A bit like you and me then Bill.

Oh, I love all those little existences to just manage the life.
gutteridge: Indeed Philine, in our world of the benefit safety net we miss out on a lot of this.
I relax just looking at this, Chad.
gutteridge: That is a nice thought Mary.
I thinkI would enjoy a stroll along there inspecting their wares.
gutteridge: Markets are nearly always interesting I think Brian.
the fence around the churchyard is perfect to hang a tarp for a market stall Chad... good shot....petersmile

Interesting picture. Sidewalk markets are common in certain areas over here - mostly dependent whether the spot is en route to somewhere - like a train station.

The trees are not jacarandas, which have round seed pods - I know, they grow on the sidewalk in front of my house. My guess is that they are mesquite tress, with their long seed pods.
When I was in Brazil many years ago - in Belo Horizonte for a month's work, I saw that on Saturday nights all the Sunday stall holders were sleeping with their gear around the church smile
